Thieves Captured on Video Stealing Cooking Grease

The theft was from an Oxon Hill restaurant.

Two suspects stole cooking grease from an Oxon Hill restaurant and now Prince George's County police are trying to identify the suspects.

On March 13, around 10:19 a.m., two men drove up to the rear of a restaurant in the 5100 block of Indian Head Highway in a blue Chevy GMS delivery truck. The suspects broke the lock to a container holding cooking oil and siphoned the grease out into another container.

The truck had a temporary registration plate from an unknown state attached to it.

Police are investigating this as a theft along with other cooking oil-related thefts in Prince George’s County.

"Cooking oil is typically used to produce a number of consumer products and is quite valuable on the secondary market," police wrote in their report. "All cooking oil haulers are required to be registered through the Department of Agriculture. Legitimate operators should display or be able to produce a registration sticker. The inability to do so strongly suggests a possible involvement in theft."
