Prince George's County Police are asking for the public's help finding a man who sexually assaulted a woman in her 90s.
Officials said the woman was assaulted in her Riverdale home on Friday, and police have been searching the neighborhood and handing out fliers.
Police say that at 9:40 p.m. on Friday, patrol officers were called to the 6100 block of 63rd Avenue for the report of a sexual assault. When they arrived, they learned the female victim who they described as elderly, had just been sexually assaulted by a man who broke into her home. The Washington Post reported the woman was in her 90s.
The woman described the assailant as Hispanic, or Pacific Islander, with dark curly hair, about 20-years-old, 150-pounds, and 5-foot two-inches in height.
County police Chief Mark Magaw calls the crime "egregious," and says detectives are determined to find and arrest the responsible person.
Julie Parker, police spokeswoman, urged anyone who saw anything to pick up the phone. "If anyone notice anything unusual, at around 9:40 last night, if they could give us a call, it might not seem like a big deal to them but that little bit of information could be just what our detectives need."Anyone with information is asked to contact the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit at 301-772-4908.
