Update: Carjacking Story Fabricated

The victim's car and property were allegedly stolen late Tuesday night on Hartwick Road. Victim reported that the suspects placed an object on his back that felt like a handgun, police say.

Upate 10:19 p.m.: Prince George's County Police discovered that the carjacking incident reported below was fabricated by the supposed victim, who now faces a criminal charge. .

Original Story: Police are still looking for three suspects connected to an alleged armed robbery that occurred late Tuesday night on the 4500 block of Hartwick Road, Prince George's County Police report.

A 35-year-old male non-student was opening his vehicle when, at 11:17 p.m., he was approached and assaulted by three males, according to a university police statement.

"The victim said they placed something in the small of his back that felt like a handgun, but he never saw it and ordered him to the ground," Cpl. Larry Johnson of the Prince George's County Police said. He said the suspects took the victim's car keys and left with his car.

The vehicle—a Lexus, The Diamondback reported—was recovered in Wheaton by the Montgomery County Police, according to the university police press statement.

The Prince George's County Police Department is conducting the investigation.
