Police: Man Stabbed in Fight, Two Robbed at Gunpoint and More

Center City

Assault on a police officer

A 38-year-old Upper Marlboro man faces second-degree assault, DUI, DWI, resisting arrest and other charges after a traffic stop on August 17 on Maryland Route 495 at Route 450. He is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

Drug arrest

A 24-year-old Silver Spring man was arrested on August 17 at about 12:15 a.m. after a traffic stop. He was charged with marijuana possession.

Vandalism

On August 19 at about 7:50 a.m., graffiti was found on a park bench near 4 Gardenway and on two benches near 32 Crescent Road. 

Driving under the influence/Drinking While Intoxicated

A 24-year-old Greenbelt man was arrested on August 15 at 9:40 p.m. on Greenbelt Road at Walker Drive. He’s been charged with DUI and DWI.

A 50-year-old Burtonsville man was arrested on August 16 at about 11:20 p.m. on Kenilworth Avenue at Maryland Route 495. He’s been charged with DUI and DWI.

A 36-year-old Greenbelt man was arrested on August 17 at about 12:40 a.m. in the 7800 block of Kenilworth Avenue. He’s been charged with DUI and DWI.

Armed robbery

Two men approached a victim on August 21 at about 9:15 p.m. in the 6100 block of Breezewood Drive. The men showed guns and demanded the victim’s belongings. One of the robbers is described as a black of Hispanic man, 18-21 years old, 5-feet-6 to 5-feet-8 inches tall who weighed 140 – 170 pounds. He had long, black dreadlocks, tattoos on his arms and neck and was wearing a white t-shirt and cargo pants. The other robber was a black man, 23-25 years old, 5-feet-5 to 5-feet-8 inches tall, 150 -170 pounds. He was wearing a white shirt, khaki pants and a purple and black baseball hat.

That same day, two men approached a victim at about 10 p.m. in the 6000 block of Greenbelt Road. One showed a gun and demanded the victim’s belongings. One of the robbers is described as an 18-year-old black male with dreadlocks, a mustache and tattoos. He was wearing a light-colored shirt.

Attempted arson

A juvenile from Greenbelt was arrested on August 18 at about 6:50 p.m. for trying to start a fire in the gas tank of a vehicle in the 6000 block of Springhill Drive. No one was in the vehicle at the time. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending action by the Department of Juvenile Services.

Alcohol violation

A 48-year-old Greenbelt man was arrested on August 19 at about 5:20 p.m. in the 6000 block of Springhill Drive for drinking on public property.

Burglary

Nothing was taken during a burglary on August 22 at about 2 a.m. in the 9100 block of Springhill Lane.

Drug paraphernalia arrest

A 31-year-old Greenbelt resident was arrested after a “suspicious vehicle stop” in the 7600 block of Greenbelt Road on August 19 at about 3:15 a.m. The person faces possession of drug paraphernalia.

Assault

A man was stabbed during a fight in the 7500 block of Greenway Center Drive on August 17 at about 1:05 a.m. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Vandalism

Someone broke a doorbell at a building in the 7800 block of Hanover Parkway on August 15 at about 6:30 p.m.

Someone broke a glass door in the 7900 block of Mandan Road on August 19 at about 4 p.m.

Trespassing

A 29-year-old Berwyn Heights man was arrested on August 19 at 8:15 p.m. for trespassing in the 7500 block of Greenbelt Road.

Citywide automobile crimes 

A 31-year-old Bowie man faces charges after police stopped him on August 20 at about 12:10 p.m. The car he was driving was displaying a Maryland tag that had been reported stolen to the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office.

Someone broke the window of a car in the 6000 block of Greenbelt Road on August 15. 

Someone stole a temporary Maryland tag from a vehicle in the unit block of Parkway on August 16.

Someone stole a set of Maryland tags from a vehicle in the 7700 block of Hanover Parkway on August 19. 

Someone stole money and credit cards from a vehicle in the 6100 block of Springhill Terrace on August 21.

Someone stole a laptop computer and a wallet from a vehicle in the 6100 block of Springhill Terrace on August 21.

Someone damaged a door lock on a vehicle in the 6100 block of Greenbelt Road on August 21.

The Glenarden Police recovered a set of stolen Maryland tags in the 7500 block of Greenway Center Drive. One person was arrested.
