Police Say Report of Suspect with Gun Off Campus Unfounded

The University of Maryland and Prince George's County Police were investigating.

Update, 6:36 p.m.: University of Maryland Police the report of a person with a gun was unfounded.

No weapons were found in the area either, according to UMPD.

The all clear has been given for the area.

Original report, 6:23 p.m.: Local police agencies are scouring the 4500 block of College Avenue after receiving reports of a person with a gun.

The incident is occuring off campus near the University of Maryland, University of Maryland Police tweeted.

They warn that residents and students should "be alert if in the area."

Prince George's County Police are taking the lead on the investigation.
