PGPD Running Sobriety Checkpoint Friday Night

Police officers will conduct breathalyzer tests on drivers who appear to be intoxicated.

Drivers traveling along Annapolis Road in Lanham Friday night should be prepared to pass through a sobriety checkpoint.

The Prince George’s County Police Special Operations Division will be stopping drivers on the 7900 block of Annapolis Road from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

If officers suspect that drivers are intoxicated, they will conduct breathalyzer tests.

Recent efforts to identify drunk drivers through traffic and sobriety checkpoints have been successful, police said.

At simultaneous sobriety checkpoints in Suitland and Riverdale Park in March, police officers arrested six drivers who were under the influence.

During a statewide drunk driving enforcement event in May, Project SOLO (Save Our Loved Ones), police made 10 DUI arrests and issued more than 190 traffic citations.
