UPDATED: Stabbing in College Park

The stabbing occurred north of campus on Edgewood Road.

Updated Feb. 16, 9:39 a.m.:  Officers believe that the stabbing was a result of the dispute between two people who knew each other prior to the crime, said Cpl. Mike Rodriguez.

No arrests have been made, but the police department has a suspect and is in the process of obtaining an arrest warrent, said Rodriguez.

The victim, a male, is in stable condition, he added.

Original article, Feb. 15, 8:37 p.m.:

Prince George’s County Police are on the scene of a stabbing in College Park, according to PGPD spokesman Cpl. Larry Johnson

Officers arrived at the 4900 block of Edgewood Road, after they received a call around 8:13 p.m., Johnson said.

At this time, they are not releasing information about the victim and don’t have information on the suspect, other than the fact the victim knew the suspect, he added.

Stay tuned to Patch for updates.

oh yes council man, , make sure you get the numbers right, as if your up on the events in the area, , there has only been a over flow of robberys, homes robbed, stores held up, trash everywhere, poor work being done for the lowest bid , drugs all over, , people stabbed, so many people from all over you dont even know how to speak with them, or if they are legal, college park has become a dump, , but you make sure you got that number right, , now try to get the 3 dirty books stores out of the area and how many pawn shops do we need, , what a joke, , god help these people ,
Scooter Conrad February 16, 2012 at 07:55 PM
Good Afternoon Unknown Person, Did YOU pickup the "trash everywhere"? I don't know what part of the city you live in, where I live is friendly, clean and I see no sign of drugs, nor do I judge my neighbors ethnicity, it is the reason I moved here. Maybe you should consider moving to to a more comfortable neighborhood. Take Care, Scooter

clean up college park February 17, 2012 at 01:03 AM
well scooter, , maybe you should open your eyes or get out more, , how about you go to that 7 11, , its only been robbed at gun point 4 times, its across the from pawn shop in the empty run down strip mall, across from the other one with the dirty book /sex store in the other empty strip mall, you know, near the junk store on the corner, the one with all the junk all over the parking lot, and yeah, hang around for a few while your there, , youll love all the nice people youll meet and how neat and clean the store is, vist the hot drink bar while your there and ask to see the rag they use to wipe it down with, , maybe the health standards of some 3rd world country are good for you , but for the home owners in this area, were sick of people tossing there trash all over our yards, or all the way down rhode island ave, maybe you can have a nice drink with the people that hang out at the metro and toss the cans and bottles into the creek, plus look at all the homes robbed in the area, or thefts, , but you just keep your eyes closed, itll be in your block soon enough,

see reply below, , and ps,,,, i have been here over 40 years, , and i say again, , college park has become a dump, , tarp money mentality and the coucil members remark sums it up, not a hope they are ok, maybe we should hire some cops, or get these people working so they arnt drinking all night, or protesting the trash being thrown out on rhode island while the tranist sit in traffic, or maybe he will vist the store and see whats going on there, maybe meet his voters,, ,maybe he can promise them more money to vote for him, god forbid he check to see if they are even legal to vote, ,dont worry, it will be on your block soon enough, than you can see how the the other 99 percent live while its not in your backyard now , , , , i assure you , its only a mtter of time, but youll move like the rest of the fly by's, ,

Ok... now I am sure CUCP is Gulbuny!!! LOL
Barry February 17, 2012 at 02:24 AM
Who is this Jon Gulbuny and how do I sign up for his posts?
Katie Zafft February 17, 2012 at 04:57 PM
It seems to me that most of the crime isn't located where you describe. But hey, maybe maps lie [sarcasm]. Dude, this neighborhood is a cakewalk.
Katie Zafft February 17, 2012 at 04:58 PM
Oh, here's the crime mapping website: http://www.umpd.umd.edu/CrimeReports.cfm See for yourself.
Pamela Torro February 17, 2012 at 05:30 PM
Okay CUCP - if you think CP is such a dump, feel free to move. Do you know that the city coordinates neighborhood clean up days? Have you ever participated? You are quick to come on here hiding behind an alias and attacking our council members and our citizens. Clearly you have not met Patrick or tried to reach out to him. I have an can say he is very quick to respond and cares a lot about our city. As for our citizens, clearly you have a racial agenda against them and seem intolerant. If that is how you are going to respond, by attacking, no one is going to take you seriously. College Park is a decent city with several council members who genuinely care. I have friends who live in places such as Arlington and they have no where near the organization of our city. That 7-11 is targeted because it is right near the beltway and an easy escape out if the city. Currently the city is working on getting license plate readers to help curb such criminal activity. If you actually tried speaking to someone on the council rather than attacking them you would know this. Bottomline is that when you are not part of the solution you are park of the problem. And you sir/mam seem like part of the problem.
Peter February 17, 2012 at 08:41 PM
Pamela-well said. This CUCP is clearly an idiot who can't help but expose his hypocritical thinking and clear bigotry/racism. He has so many negative things to sat about our city yet is still living here after 40 years or so; questionable! Further, he offers his negative sentiments about the city and residents yet provides no possible solutions to his perceived problems and I second your point about the neighborhood clean-ups and his non-participation for sure. Mr./Ms. CUCP, please get off the computer and off your lazy arse and do something to better the community rather than trying to bring it down with your negativity and prejudice...or, better yet, just go ahead and move. & Barry-it makes perfect sense that you would want to follow Gulbuny.
Scooter Conrad February 17, 2012 at 09:36 PM
Prince George's Property Owners Association member and Landlord. who tried to get a referendum on the ballot in regards to a Public vote agaist rent control "tried to explain how immensely unjust it was to inspect his property for health and safety violations", that was circulated last year this petition WAS to prohibit not just rent control but also annual inspection of rental properties. Rick, I doubt that this "Clean Up College Park" (CUCP) person is Jon Gulbuny, based on the rant. Besides CUCP doesn't want anyone to question their integrity or lack thereof. He|she is probably of the same group of USA citizens that burned the Bible at the beginning of WW2 because it was printed in German.
Scooter Conrad February 17, 2012 at 09:53 PM
And you keep babbling!?? Have you reported anything to the proper authorities? Are you on record objecting to any of these "points" you throw about. You've been here 40 years? It would appear these horrible assaults to your citizenship haven't been THAT Bad.! Unnamed persons have zero creditability on their complaints. Hope you feel better, Scooter
Pamela Torro February 17, 2012 at 09:56 PM
The funny thing about him Scooter, was that there were no records of him even owning a house in CP. So either that was not his real name or he owned under an SPE which should be governed by business law.
Barry February 18, 2012 at 12:25 AM
Why exactly does it make sense that I would want to follow Gulbuny?
Peter February 18, 2012 at 12:38 AM
Barry-First, based upon your recent post about wanting to sign up to follow his posts and second, based upon your previous posts throughout the Patch ripping Councilman Wojahn, same sex marriage etc. etc. Nothing personal brother-just pointing out the pretty clear facts about you based upon your own words.
Barry February 18, 2012 at 01:11 PM
Still dont follow your logic. Just because I disagreed with the council for supporting an issue that has nothing to do with College Park doesn't make me a Jon Gulbuny nor be labeled that way.
