Update: Police Identify Victim in Beltsville Homicide Investigation

Prince George's County Police have identified the now deceased man, whom they found shot in Beltsville early Wednesday.

Update, 6:24 p.m.: The Prince George's County Police Department has identified the now deceased man, whom they found in Beltsville last night suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The suspected homicide victim is 22-year-old Afamefuna Jamaine Onwuka of the 4400 block of 75th Avenue in Landover, Md., according to police.

The Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit is working to identify the suspect(s) and establish a motive in this case.

Original Post, 10:25 a.m.: A homicide in Beltsville left one man dead early Wednesday morning, according to a Prince George's County Police Department statement.

According to the statement: Police were called to the 4600 block of Garrett Ave. at approximately 12:30 a.m. When they arrived, they discovered a male victim suffering from an apparent gun shot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. A preliminary investigation followed.

The victim's identity was not released.

According to The Washington Post, people who were inside the home at the time of the shooting are being questioned.

NBC Washington reports it's unclear whether those individuals were conducting a home invasion or the suspect was aready inside when the shots were fired.
