No Injuries in Campus Fire

A fire in a second-floor laboratory of the J.M. Patterson Building on the University of Maryland, College Park campus closed down the building, but injured no one.

An afternoon fire in the J.M. Patterson Building on the  campus closed down the building, but injured no one, said Mark Brady, chief spokesperson for the Prince George's County Fire and EMS Department.

The 3 p.m. fire involved some electrical equipment in one of the building's second-floor laboratories, Brady said.

The J.M. Patterson Building, which was built in 1953, houses—among other departments—the Department of Fire Protection Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park, and The Maryland Center for Automotive Research & Testing, according to the university's website.
