No Injuries in Adelphi High Rise Fire

Fire on eighth floor of 20-story apartment building extinguished quickly.

Fire officials said that no one was injured in a small fire that was brought under control quickly in a high rise apartment building in Adelphi on Tuesday. Damage appeared to be minimal, fire officials said, but estimates were not final.

Mark Brady, chief spokesman for the Prince George's County Fire Department, said that at around 4 p.m., firefighters from Prince George's and Montgomery County responded to the Presidential Towers apartment high rise at 1836 Metzerott Road for report of a fire. Once on scene, firefighters discovered fire and smoke coming from a balcony on the eighth floor.

The blaze was quickly brought under control with little to no smoke in the building hallways, according to Brady.
