Miguel Morales-Iraheta, 33, was sentenced on Wednesday to life in prison for sneaking into a parked car at a College Park gas station and threatening the driver with his hands around her neck, NBC Washington reported.
According to a release from the Prince George's County State's Attorney's office:
Morales-Iraheta snuck into the backseat of Rocha’s car when she stopped at a gas station to get a pack of gum. Rocha was unaware of Iraheta's presence until he emerged from the back seat and grabbed her neck, telling her to "just drive."
Rocha jumped from the vehicle while stopped at a traffic light and called 911.
Morales-Iraheta drove off, but police followed him when he ran a red light. As police pursued, Iraheta lost control of the vehicle while driving through a residential neighborhood and flipped it.
