Local Firefighters Take a Haircut for Charity
Volunteers gathered at Looney's Pub Saturday to raise funds for the St. Baldrick's Foundation.
Members of the Prince George's County Fire Department's fourth battalion—including volunteers from College Park, Riverdale, Bladensburg and Hyattsville—came together on Saturday to lose their hair for charity.
The fundraiser, held at in College Park, benefited the St. Baldrick's Foundation, an organization "committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives."
Nearly 70 firefighters participated in the head-shaving event, including one who raised an extra $200 by having a design shaved onto his chest.

Firefighters collected nearly $20,000 from pledges, t-shirt proceeds, and 50-50 raffles.
