A Landover man running from the scene of a fatal stabbing in Glenarden has been charged with first-degree murder, according to authorities.
The Prince George's County Police Department, along with the Glenarden Police Department, arrested Jahwil Sheard, 37, of the 8800 block of Sterling Street in Landover in the death of 26-year-old Terrell Maurice Burton of 10th Street in Northwest Washington.
On June 14, shortly before 9 p.m., patrol officers were called to the 7900 block of Johnson Avenue in Glenarden for the report of a stabbing. When they arrived, they saw a man who matched Sheard's description running from the area. Officers stopped him and he was identified.
Not far away, patrol officers found Burton suffering from apparent stab wounds. He was rushed to a hospital, where he died a short time later. A knife was also found nearby.
The preliminary investigation suggests Sheard stabbed Burton during an argument.
Sheard is charged with first-degree murder. He is being held without bond by the Department of Corrections.
