College Park Man Convicted of Sexual Assault

Frankline Yenchi was convicted in the 2009 sexual assault of a Bowie woman.

Frankline Yenchi, a 28-year-old College Park man, has been convicted in the 2009 sexual assault of a Bowie woman after he was charged with the assault in December 2010.

According to records from Bowie Police, the victim—a home health care provider—reported that she was pushing a wheelchair at the intersection of Old Collington Road and Northview Drive when a man approached and groped her from behind.

The victim turned and screamed at the man after he continued to grab her inappropriately, causing him to flee down Old Collington Road, according to reports.

The victim told police she called her husband, who was in the area, and they began looking for the man later identified as Yenchi. The woman reportedly saw him get into the passenger side of a vehicle and her husband was able to get the license plate number.

In October of 2010, a detective from the Bowie Police was investigating a similar incident, when he realized the connection with the case involving Yenchi. He arranged for the victim to look at a photo lineup, and she was able to identify Yenchi as the man who assaulted her in 2009.
