Beltsville Man Charged in Berwyn Heights Killing

Andrew Heinz Kugler, 36, was arrested Monday morning in College Park.

A 36-year-old Beltsville man was charged Monday in the killing of his ex-girlfriend in Berwyn Heights over the weekend, Prince George's County police said.

Andrew Heinz Kugler faces a charge of second degree murder in the death of Amber Danielle Schinault, 36. He was being held without bond.

Acccording to police, patrol officers responded Sunday afternoon to Schinault's home in the 8600 block of 57th Avenue, where they found her with lacerations to her neck. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Around 9:30 a.m. Monday, officers reportedly observed Kugler near Calvert Road and Bowdoin Street in College Park, where they placed him under arrest.

Police said Kugler had cut his own wrist before he was taken into custody. He was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later taken to the Maryland Department of Corrections.
