Bamboo Eater Robbed by Man with Handgun

The tobacco and pipe store Bamboo Eater, located at 9935 Rhode Island Ave., was robbed Tuesday around 7:35 p.m. 

Police said the suspect entered the store holding a black revolver-style handgun, and demanded that the clerk hand over money from the register. The clerk, who was the sole employee in the store at the time, complied, and the suspect fled. The whole transaction happened very quickly, said Dist. 1 Commander Maj. Robert Liberati, and it is unknown whether any merchandise was taken from the store. Police declined to say how much money was taken as it would impede the investigation.

Police described the suspect as a male around 5 feet 2 inches tall, and weighing roughly 150 pounds. He was wearing a gray zip-up hooded sweatshirt, a homemade white flannel mask, blue jeans, black gloves, and was carrying a black handgun.
