Adelphi Man Barricades Himself As Marshals Serve Warrant

The man is in critical condition at a local hospital.

An Adelphi man barricaded himself in an apartment adjacent to his home Monday night after Prince George's County Police and U.S. Marshals were trying to serve a warrant.

Around 10:20 p.m., the suspect, 24 year-old Carlos Pierola, of the 1800 block of Greenwich Woods Drive, became aware of the police officers presence at his home and tried to escape. He forced his way into an adjacent apartment where he barricaded himself, according to Prince George's County Police.

At 5:45 a.m., police heard sounds that indicated Pierola was in distress and made entry.

He was taken to a local hospital where he is in critical condition.  Pierola's weapon was recovered, and no police officers were hurt during the incident.

Pierola was wanted in connection with a domestic kidnapping on Dec. 15. The warrant charged him with forcibly taking his estranged wife against her will.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to call the Prince George's County Police Department's Robbery Unit at 301-772-4905.
