What Does Essex-Middle River Really Need?

What could your town use?

Essex is a great part of town. We've got parks, water, planes, restaurants and plenty more.

But what is it missing? What do you wish you didn't have to leave town for? Or what could it really use, in a perfect world?

I'll start: a quality coffeeshop. This is mostly self-interested, as right now (aside from the library) I have to get to White Marsh or Rosedale to find a place where I can sit down, grab a cup, do some writing and take calls.

I hope they do the whole mixed-use property where the old GSA complex is. I personally would like to see a dog park. I love walking my dogs but wish they had a place to run free and play with other dogs. Wouldn't be a huge project either

I could go for a water park.

Since Essex and Middle River are waterfront communities, what we need are water venues that the public can access. We need to take Wilson Point Park and turn it into a destination . Build a small water park, have a Boat Rental Consignment, A Pirate ship taking kids out, a Head Boat for fishing trips, a couple Charter Boats, some Crabbers and a Fresh Fish Market, an Ice Cream Stand, a Snack Bar, an Amphitheater. People from all over Baltimore County would come, Boaters from all over the bay would come. The park could be used for community events, Halloween, Christmas, Fourth of July ,and New Years. It can be and should be the heart of our Community were people come to gather, play, laugh and live.

A coffeeshop/bakery. I've been saying this for years!
