While public libraries surround College Park, and the University of Maryland has several libraries where students and faculty can check out books, College Park does not have a public library. Smith is doing something about it.
He and a handful of volunteers are working to transform the basement of the in to a community library, filled entirely with donated books. Smith hopes it'll be open by January 2012.
