Reminisce About Your City: Hollywood Inn to Byrd Stadium

Do you remember when College Park looked like this?

The city decided this week to pursue financial assistance from the state to , including a former Arby’s fast food restaurant and a neighborhood bar called the Brass Lantern.

While we’re reminiscing, it’s a good time to bring out this: a slide show of vintage photos from the area. A Patch reader passed the link along, and there are several shots from around College Park.

Who here remembers a Town Hall Restaurant? How about a Hollywood Inn? Or an ice skating rink on U.S. Route 1?

Not all the photos are labeled with the year, and I do have to question the "vintage-ness" of the photo labeled “The Rendezvous Inn,” the predecessor of the . In the photo, the Cornerstone sign was already over the front door.

But most of the pictures seem to be true shots of from back in the day -- a glimpse in to what our city used to look like.

And please, give me a hollar to share the memories you have of these places, or to pass along other photos from our city back in the "good ol' days."
