Local Events to Honor Our Veterans

Here are some memorial services and events in College Park and the surrounding area this weekend honoring the veterans of our city and country.

Whether you've served our country in the military, you know someone who has, or are simply grateful for their services, you might want to attend one of the local Veterans Day ceremonies or celebrations in College Park or the surrounding area this weekend.

College Park Events

Veterans Day Memorial Service

Community members are invited to join with city officials, American Legion representatives, and other city and military leaders to honor the veterans of the city and the country.

University of Maryland Veterans Day Celebration

University and military leaders and alumni will gather for a memorial service and celebration, along with the university chorus Femmes de Chanson, concluding with a buffet lunch served in the West Chapel Garden.

College Park Blues Festival

Veterans will be honored at this fourth annual blues festival, where there will also be food, dancing, holiday shopping and prizes. Veterans are encouraged to come in uniform. It's a free event.

Veterans Day Ceremony

Local veterans groups will host a ceremony. Attendees are invited to the Disabled American Veterans Hall for a reception afterward.

Veterans Wreath Laying Ceremony

This is a Riverdale Park ceremony to honor veterans.

Rosaryville Veterans Day 50K

The Annapolis Striders present the inaugural Rosaryville Veteran’s Day 50K race. That's 31 miles through wooded trails and meadows. Registration is $40.

Newseum

The media-themed museum will offer free admission to veterans.
