Remember Smudge? Her Time for Sight Has Finally Come

Smudge is a College Park Animal Shelter feline.

As you may recall, found her way to a local citizen's house just a block off of a very busy roadway. After a complete rescue exam by a vet, it was determined that Smudge had all but 20 percent of her vision obscured by cataracts at only 1-1/2 years of age!

The College Park Animal Welfare Committee has been to have corrective surgery for Smudge, to give her a chance for a normal life. At long last, Smudge’s surgery has been scheduled at the end of this month!  She will benefit from the skills of a second year resident at the Small Animal Hospital of the VA-MD Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in Blacksburg, VA.  In addition to private funds raised here in College Park, a grateful VT client will fund the initial examination.

We wish to acknowledge the efforts of our donors and supporters in making this sight saving procedure a reality. Our economy has made “getting by” difficult for both families and their companion animals. Many more animals have found themselves in need of someone else who is mindful of their plight. Our grateful thanks go to the many of you who have helped Smudge. Having paved the way to care for her needs, we can now channel additional energies toward helping others of her shelter companions.
