Week in Review: The Purple Line, Memorial Day and College Park's New Farmers Market

A look back at the notable events of the past week.

On Monday, residents of College Park braved the blazing temperatures for the city's annual at the Veterans Memorial on Route 1. A touch of drama accompanied the event: Attendees were notified as the ceremony began that they had to hurry and move their cars from the nearby Pizza Hut parking lot .

After months of contentious debate, the University of Maryland has officially dropped  to the Campus Drive alignment of the Purple Line, the Washington Post reports.

College Park is now home to not one, but two Farmers Markets. We'll have a detailed report on the new market, located in the parking lot of City Hall, by Sunday evening.
