Week in Review: More Robberies, More Police, and the First Week of 'About Town'

A look at the notable events of 9/5 - 9/12

As of Monday night, College Park has seen five robberies in the last three weeks. The two armed robberies on Labor Day have prompted police to beef up their numbers around College Park until crime dies down. Will extra security be enough to deter crime? What else should be done? It's certainly not too late to tell us what you think will help make College Park a safer place.

Those who keep kosher in College Park were disappointed to discover that Pita Place, which many say was the only palatable kosher food in the vicinity, has closed. The restaurant will open as Krazy Kebob in the coming weeks.

The University of Maryland is in the early stages of updating its Facilities Master Plan. Members of the plan's seeing committee presented the rough outline for the next five years at Tuesday's city council work session, which include increasing environmental sustainability and working to make campus more pedestrian friendly.
