Week in Review: Jack Johnson Arrested, Thirsty Turtle Surrenders Liquor License
A look at the notable events from the week of Nov. 7 - 14.
Prince George's County Executive Jack Johnson (D) and his wife Leslie in federal court for tampering with witnesses and evidence and trying to destroy evidence of a bribe from a local developer.
The charges against the Johnsons are criminal in nature and could send the Johnsons to jail for up to 20 years, with three years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine each. The specific charges are for tampering with witnesses and evidence relating to the commission of a federal offense and the destruction, alteration and falsification of documents in a federal investigation, according to court documents released Friday.
On Wednesday, the . Linda Carter represented Turtle owner Alan Wanuck at the hearing, and cited the bar's irresponsible staff as the reason for Wanuck's decision, saying that despite his zero-tolerance policy toward underage drinking, the Thirsty Turtle is too big to run by himself.
Tuesday was Veterans Day, and on Greenbelt Road and Route 1 to pay tribute to those who have served the country in the armed forces.
