Week In Review: Back to School!

The notable events from the week of 8/22 - 8/29

In news this week, residents petitioned to have security cameras installed at the Lackawanna entrance of Greenbelt metro. The stretch of path has been the source of much discussion after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted there in May.

The developer slated to convert the Maryland Book Exchange into five stories of student apartments met with Old Town and Calvert Hills residents Wednesday. Many who live in the area are concerned that the apartments will mean more students spilling into nearby neighborhoods for parties, and are worried about the noise and potential crime that may accompany them.

Also, the city of College Park is considering building an eco-park, and the University of Maryland's new license plate scanning system may aid police in finding persons of interest.
