University Park Council OKs One Cafritz Appeal

Council also gives go-ahead for tennis court resurfacing.

After an hour-long executive session Monday getting legal advice on the Cafritz development, the University Park Town Council approved authorizing an appeal of the detailed site plan, but held off on authorizing an appeal of the preliminary site plan.

The council voted 6-0 to authorize an appeal of the detailed site plan. Council Member Arlene Christiansen was absent Monday.

Mayor John Tabori asked the council the postpone authorizing an appeal of the preliminary site plan until the first meeting in July. The council voted 6-0 to postpone that item until July 1.

Also on Monday, Tabori swore in four council members to new terms. Council Members Len Carey (Ward 4), Michael Cron (Ward 6), James Gekas (Ward 2) and Heidi Sorensen (Ward 5) all took the oath of office.

The council also approved a $28,800 contract with American Tennis Courts Inc. to resurface the tennis courts on Queens Chapel and replace the fence. The council chose a blue playing surface with green surface surrounding.

The council also approved in first reading a budget transfer of $3,300 to cover the cost of an appraisal of the Riverdale Presbyterian Church.
