YOU CHOOSE: Public Napping of College Park

Patch gets you thinking ahead to Tuesday, the national celebration of sleeping in public.

You're reading at the library when suddenly, the silence is interrupted by a snore. You peer over the cubical wall to find the culprit, who's sprawled on the couch in a deep slumber. Is that drool?

Chances are, we've all seen this, or been the culprit ourselves. Who could blame us? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that Americans aren't getting nearly as much sleep as we need.

But on Tuesday, it's actually socially acceptable—even celebrated—to fall asleep in public.

That's according to the website Bizarre American Holidays, which lists something to celebrate everyday throughout the year.
