Reports: College Park Shooter Suffered From Schizophrenia

Dayvon Maurice Green reportedly admitted himself to a mental health facility in 2009.

Dayvon Maurice Green, the 23-year-old University of Maryland student who allegedly shot two roommates Tuesday before killing himself, may have suffered from schizophrenia, according to The Washington Post and The Gazette.

On Tuesday afternoon, police announced that Green had been afflicted with a mental illness for at least the past year. He had reportedly been prescribed medication to treat his disorder.

The exact nature of Green's illness was not publicly disclosed, but the Post and Gazette cite sources close to the investigation as saying he had been diagnosed with schizophrenia.

The Gazette also reports that Green suffered from bipolar disorder and that he had admitted himself to a mental health facility in 2009.
