4.

Where/When: Lot 1 on the University of Maryland campus, beginning at 7 p.m. Monday, July 4

Why go: Three reasons: (1) Catch some live classic rock and roll before the fireworks display; (2) to enjoy fireworks  in the county, you must go to public displays because consumer fireworks are illegal around here; and (3) it's a joint event between the city and the university, which is pretty cool.

5. A Capitol Fourth

Where/When: National Mall in Washington, D.C., 9 p.m., Monday, July 4

Why go: If you decide to go outside of Maryland for your fireworks this Independence Day, try shooting over to D.C. AOL Travel ranked the nation's capitol display as one of the best 15 in the country.
