Arguments in Cafritz Rezoning Case to Resume Wednesday

Several residents are challenging the county council's 2012 rezoning approval.

Court proceedings in a case challenging the rezoning of the Cafritz property are due to resume Wednesday morning in Upper Marlboro.

Oral arguments are set to begin at 9 a.m. at the Circuit Court for Prince George's County (14735 Main Street). Judge Krystal Alves is hearing the case. 

In July of 2012, the District Council of Prince George's County approved the rezoning of the Cafritz property—owned by Calvert Tract LLC—from Residential-55 to Mixed-Use Town Center.

In August of 2012, a group of petitioners filed a court challenge of the zoning change.

Petitioners in the case—titled Amster vs. County Council of Prince George's County—include Jayson Amster of University Park, Mary Katherine Hanna of University Park, Kate Kelly of Riverdale Park, and Ronald Willoner of College Park.
