Happy Wednesday, College Park! Here's your mid-week rundown of what you need to know on this second day of summer:

1. The key weather terms today: hot and humid. A high of 88 to 92 is expected, with a chance of thunderstorms across the region this afternoon and evening. Your mission, should you choose to accept it: Drink plenty of refreshing fluids.

2. The Daily Record reports that Maryland, which is home to two NFL football teams, would lose an estimated $40 million in tax revenues if the NFL’s season is canceled because of a labor dispute, according to a report by the Maryland comptroller’s office. Talk about double trouble.

3. Here's something for you starry-eyed lovers of astronomy. The University of Maryland's summer program "Learn the Sky Nights" is back! the program kicks off Thursday, June 23, from 6-11 p.m. at the UMd. observatory. For more information and to register, click here.

5. The Prince George’s County school board unanimously approved a $1.6 billion budget early Tuesday morning that would cut as many as 700 teaching positions, according to a story in The Washington Post.
