5 Things You Need to Know Today: June 14

Little bites of news that you just can't live without.

Happy Tuesday, College Park. To keep your curious mind in the know, here's today's list of five things you need to know:

1. Do you think we can top yesterday's superlative weather? Well, how does mostly sunny with temperatures in the upper 70s sound? There is a slight chance of isolated sprinkles in the afternoon, but don't let that prevent you from enjoying a second day of cool temps and low humidity.

2. By now many of you know that Lauren Evans, fabulous former editor of College Park Patch, has hitched her star to Little Neck Patch. We are sad to see her go; however, we understand her desire for the bright lights of the Big Apple.

3. President Wallace D. Loh reported on his recent seven-day trip to China with Gov. Martin O'Malley. In a letter posted on the university's website, Loh wrote that the purpose of his visit was to expand and deepen the network of UMd.-China relationships in order to advance the educational, research, and economic development missions of the university. Loh and O'Malley on a road trip in China—I bet they've got a few stories to tell.

5. Hey Redskins fans, The Washington Post reports that the team is considering moving its headquarters from Ashburn to Bowie. The county has asked the Maryland Stadium Authority and the state Department of Economic Development to help fund a study.
