Caitlyn reviews the Asian Fusion & Varsity Lounge in College Park Md.

Ever wish you could teleport around the world and devour some really good Asian food?

What if I told you this was possible, with no airfare required? Located near central College Park, and right off of Route 1, the Asian Fusion & Varsity Lounge is tucked away in the shadows of the . While the name and restaurant spaces are connected, the menus and food tastes are quite different.

I went for the Asian food, and I was not disappointed. The place encompasses a comfortable family- and student-friendly atmosphere. With borderline fancy style, relaxing atmosphere, comfy feel, and soothing music, it creates a captivating Asian serenity that definitely cooks it up, and I’m not just talking about the food.

Upon request, my waiter cheerily pointed out classic favorites, one of which was the Crab Rangoon appetizer; I highly suggest you start off with this. Just take one bite into the crispy outer pastry shell, let your teeth slide through the mixed cream cheese and crab meat, allow your taste buds to sample the sweet and sour sauce, and finally, delay on the overall flavor spectrum lingering in your mouth.

I ordered the Hakka Noodles: a dish of warm salty noodles that simply slipped over the tongue and mixed with a blend of carrots, onions, cabbage, and a simple but completing “brown sauce.” The flavors mixed together perfectly on my tongue, and created a rich blend of saltiness instead of the traditional spiciness.

My friend ordered the Thai Panang Curry: a flavorful dish that encompasses a certain buzz on the tongue. With savory chicken, peppers and onions mixed together in a warm and spicy sauce, the curry is served with a bowl of fluffy rice that creates an optimum melt in your mouth flavor experience.
