Dr. Ann Marie Stephenson Joins Metro Area Digestive Health Group

Capital Digestive Care, a local group of physicians specialized in digestive health, recently added its 60th physician, Ann Marie Stephenson, D.O., MBA. Board-certified in both Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine, Dr. Stephenson’s practice will focus on  general gastrointestinal health  with a special interest in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD).“

As a gastroenterologist with experience in osteopathic medicine, Dr. Stephenson brings a unique and valuable perspective to patient treatment,” said Dr. Arnold Levy, president and CEO of Capital Digestive Care. “A history of caring for her community and commitment to her patients make Dr. Stephenson a great fit for our group.”

Aspiring to be a doctor since she was 10, Dr. Stephenson volunteered more than 1,000 hours as a candy striper in her teenage years. After receiving a bachelor’s in psychology at Spelman College in Atlanta, Dr. Stephenson earned a doctor of osteopathy degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, while also completing a master’s in business administration from Saint Joseph’s University. Following an internal medicine residency, Dr. Stephenson completed fellowships in both geriatric medicine and gastroenterology, from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and Midwestern University, respectively.

A member of numerous medical organizations, including American College of Osteopathic Internists, American College of Gastroenterology, American Osteopathic Association and National Medical Association, Dr. Stephenson’s work has been published in the American Journal of Gastroenterology.
