VIDEO: Introducing the Roving Cyclist

Jeff Lemieux, Patch's Roving Cyclist, shows you a safe route a local bike shop.

Longtime Proteus Bicycles customer Jeff Lemieux has been a recreational cyclist for quite some time. But things got more serious after his wife bought a "really cool bike" at Proteus, forcing him to up the ante himself.

Now, Lemieux has gone from casual rider to biking machine, and currently commutes from his home in Greenbelt to his office in downtown D.C. almost every day.

Lemieux recently bought a GoPro Hero sport camera at REI, and decided to use his newfound video making skills to show cyclists how they can successfully (and safely) navigate the streets of College Park.

The attached video illustrates the route from the College Park Metro station to , located at 9217 Baltimore Ave. The ground-level video is the work of Lemieux; the Google Earth mapping is ours.

Got a local route you want us to map? Let us know, and we'll do our best to make it happen.

This is really great. I like the google earth map overlay. Really helpful!

Very cool. I would recommend taking your bike under to the other side of the Metro Station and bicycling through Old Town to get to the Trolley Trail. A little more pleasant and avoids riding on the sidewalk along Paint Branch Parkway.
