Just How Might Your Community Grow?

Riverdale Park brainstormed about the development they'd like to see around the Purple Line stop on Riverdale Road. College Park will have that chance in December.

A recreation, arts or senior center; more bike lanes, retail stores and food courts ...

These were some of the ideas that came out of a gathering of Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) staff and Riverdale Park they'd like to see result from the Purple Line.

In December, College Park residents will have the same opportunity.

, which could open as early as 2018, will connect New Carrollton and Bethesda, and cut through College Park and Riverdale Park. Most expect growth and development will result around the 21 stations.

The M-NCPPC is hosting a series of public meetings to brainstorm ideas with residents of how the development should unfold at five of the proposed stops, including the College Park-UMd. station, where the Purple Line will connect with the existing Metro station on River Road.

, residents are invited to the Department of Parks and Recreation Administration Building, 6600 Kenilworth Ave., Riverdale, to envision the development that could surround the College Park-UMd. stop. The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m.
