Jr GIS Specialist

Duties: Maintain and update Geographic Information System (GIS) databases; obtain data from city, state, federal and private sources; receive and review maps, land parcel records and engineering documents. Identify pertinent GIS information and convert data into proper GIS formats. Ensure accuracy and completeness; enter data into databases; and update essential GIS layers and databases. Create a variety of maps and GIS related documents.
Requirements: BS degree (typically in a scientific discipline), Geographical Information Systems Certificate or courses specific to GIS; 2+ years of experience in creating and analyzing spatial data, developing GIS application solutions and creating maps developed with ESRI technologies (e.g. ArcGIS10 software); GIS skills with experience with ArcGIS is preferred; Strong verbal/written communication skills.
