Chris' Critters Closing Its Doors

The pet shop will close in two weeks.

Unfortunately for area bird lovers and bird owners, they'll have to find a new place for bird supplies after a locally-owned shop will close later this month.

Chris' Critters at 9210 Baltimore Ave. in College Park will be shutting its doors on June 26.

Patch reader Chuck Ireton notified College Park Patch about the closing and it was confirmed by an employee earlier this week.

"Chris and Dave have been tremendous College Park community members and always took great care of us in the pet bird community. They even dropped everything in the dead of winter and took my birds in for a month after a fire next door forced us out of my house," Ireton wrote.

That’s the type of service Ireton says has kept him a loyal customer for the last 10 years. Whenever he needed something for one his birds, even if it was an unusual item, he says he went to Chris’ Critters knowing that they would help him get it.

“I liked walking in and hearing, ‘Hey Chuck, how are you?,’” Ireton says. “I’ll miss having friendly people that know me.”

Patch contacted the owners for an interview, however they did not want to go on the record.
