On the heels of this week's high temperatures, the National Weather Service reports a cold front is moving in that could produce a tornado, particularly in northeastern Maryland on Thursday.

A tornado watch is in effect from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday for most Maryland counties, including Prince George's County, conditions are favorable for producing a tornado.

The weather service also issued a hazardous weather outlook, noting that severe thunderstorms may produce "damaging winds, large hail and heavy rainfall" that could lead to flash flooding.

"An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out in the stronger storms…especially across northeastern Maryland," reads the hazardous weather outlook.
