Tour to Expose Fake Clinics

Have you ever heard of a so-called “crisis pregnancy center” (CPC)? Or have you seen a billboard that reads “Pregnant? Need Help?” Well, those signs are ads for CPCs - unregulated, unlicensed organizations that often pose as legitimate health centers and frequently misinform, mislead, and manipulate women facing unintended pregnancy.

CPCs are not new. They have been in operation for decades, growing their ranks to 4,000 across the country – including more than 40 in Maryland. They have become bigger, more formidable, well-resourced, and professional. In recent years, CPCs have turned their attention to young women, women of color, and non-native English speaking women.

NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland Fund is excited to visit your community on our state-wide Tour to Expose Fake Clinics. Join us at our first tour stop at University of Maryland, College Park, where we will present the award-winning film, 12th & Delaware, which follows activity on a street corner in Florida where a women's health clinic stands across from a CPC, followed by a panel discussion. The film doesn't take a position on choice - it starts a conversation.

Panelists include:

•       Willie J. Parker, MD, MPH, MSc, the former Medical Director of Planned Parenthood Metro Washington and a board member of Physicians for Reproductive Choice and Health (PRCH)
•       Melissa Kleder, Deputy Director, NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland
•       Audrey Gottheimer, NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland volunteer

The event is free & open to the public. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Film begins promptly 7:00 p.m. Tickets are free, but required. Maximum of 4 tickets can be reserved per order.
