Discussion Facilitators:

• Paul Tukey, producer of A Chemical Reaction, is one of the nations leading experts on organic lawn care and is founder of SafeLawns.org and the author of The Organic Lawn Manual. Paul has been involved in many innovative lawn & garden projects such as a four-acre makeover on the National Mall and the production of more than 20 award-winning how-to-videos about organic lawn care.

• Dr. Diana Post, DVM, is the Executive Director of The Rachel Carson Council, based in Silver Spring, which seeks to educate the public about the effects of pesticides threatening health, welfare, and survival of living organisms & biological systems. Dr. Post will will provide an update on RCC's current campaigns and address issues related to how companion animals and wildlife are directly impacted by lawn & garden pesticides and herbicides, as well as the health consequences related to flea and tick pesticides.

• Maia Carroll, a renowned area artist, experienced first hand the horrors of pesticide poisoning and is moved to tell her story so others may avoid experiencing what she has endured.

"Conversations in the Corridor"(CITC), a project of Busboys and Poets, The Big Bad Woof and Green Vegan Networking, is a free monthly series at Busboys and Poets in the Arts District of Hyattsville. Held every second Sunday, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., these events and discussions span the idea spectrum, addressing politics, arts, education, race, class and culture, the environment and animal rights, among other topics.  CITC aims to foster honest and open dialogue in a neutral and welcoming space.
