  • Where: College Park Aviation Museum, 1985 Corporal Frank Scott Dr., College Park
  • When: Saturday, May 11, 1 p.m.
  • Description: The College Park Aviation Museum presents a device that will protect a large Grade-A egg from breaking when dropped from a 20 foot balcony. Open to grades K-12, prizes will be awarded.

Laurel Main Street Festival

  • Where: Main Street between U.S. Route 1 & 7th Street, Laurel
  • When: Saturday, May 11, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Description: Main Street will be completely closed to vehicular traffic, allowing thousands of people to stroll up and down Main Street enjoying numerous food vendors, bands, arts, crafts. The festival will start with the parade, which will begin at 9 a.m.

Talk: "The Haunting of Dr. Samuel Mudd's House"

  • When: Friday, May 10, 7 p.m.
  • Description: Medium and author Rob Gutro joins Margaret Erlhich and Ronda Dixon to share personal paranormal experiences. The A&E "My Ghost Story" program featuring Margaret and Ronda's investigation will also be shown. Rob will also have his books available for signing.

Rome at Riversdale

  • Where: Riversdale House Museum, 4811 Riverdale Rd., Riverdale
  • When: Saturday, May 11, 11 a.m.
  • Description: Guests are invited to celebrate ancient Rome and participate in Roman themed activities and watch battle demonstrations by Legion XX.
  • Cost: $3

Free Green Man Festival Screening: Young Voices for the Planet

  • Where: 129 Centerway, Greenbelt
  • When: Saturday, May 11, 11 a.m.
  • Description: Young Voices for the Planet is presented to teach young people to take action, shrinking the carbon footprint of their homes, schools and communities.
  • Cost: Free

Hyattsville's Finest To Help Raise Funds for Special Olympics

  • Where: 5501 Baltimore Ave., Hyattsville
  • When: Saturday, May 11, 12 p.m.
  • Description: Hyattsville’s finest will compete against each other in the spirit of fun and a great cause. Three teams, each comprising of three representatives from the Police Department, Fire Department and Department of Public Works (9 competitors total), will be working against the clock as they try to eat Elevation Burger’s infamous Vertigo Burger, consisting ten organic beef patties. The Hyattsville Police Department, last year’s winners, will try to defend its title and retain its trophy. Proceeds benefit the Special Olympics.

37th Annual Marlborough Day Festival

  • Where: Main St & Water St, Upper Marlboro
  • When: Saturday, May 11, 10 a.m.
  • Description: Street festival from 10 a.m.–5 p.m.; Parade, arts/ craft vendors, info booths, music, kid activities, moon bounce, pony rides, dance demos, and lots of food vendors.
  • Cost: Free

2013 Cultural Arts Expo

  • Where: Prince Georges Community College, 301 Largo Rd, Upper Marlboro
  • When: Saturday, May 11, 10 a.m.
  • Description: Delegate Melony G. Griffith, Prince George’s Community College, Parks and Recreation of the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission and the Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council will present The 2013 Cultural Arts Expo. Anyone interested in the arts is welcome.

Math & Science Day

  • Where: Six Flags America, 13710 Central Ave, Largo
  • When: Friday, May 10
  • Description: Six Flags America hosts a special Math & Science day with special prices and all-you-can-eat meal plan.

UniverSoul Circus

  • Where: 6900 Annapolis Rd., Landover Hills
  • When: Thursday, May 9–Sunday, May 19
  • Description: Visitors are invited to celebrate the tradition of the UniverSoul Circus, featuring live animals, stunts and much more.

Mother/Daughter Tea

  • Where: 14300 St. Thomas Church Rd., Upper Marlboro
  • When: Saturday, May 11
  • Description: Elegant tea to celebrate Mother’s Day.
  • Cost: Advance ticket sales only: $30 per person

Secretariat's 40th Anniversary and Selima Room Open House

  • Where: Bowie Branch Library
  • When: Saturday, May 11, 2 p.m.–4 p.m.
  • Description: Light refreshments will be served in the Selima Room, Bowie's special collection on horse racing, materials pertaining to Secretariat will be available for everyone's perusal and enlightenment.
