Did you or someone who love get a new puppy for Christmas? Wondering how to get that cute little furbaby to stop jumping, nipping and other not-so-cute behaviors?

Then, it’s time for a little training and this month is the perfect time to start. January is National Train Your Dog Month.

“The emphasis for Train Your Dog Month is on the family dog and everyday manners,” says Columbia Patch blogger Skye Anderson in her recent blog post.

This month-long initiative from the Association of Professional Dog Trainers features contests, webinars, Facebook chats and instruction on teaching basics commands like sit, down, stay, wait, and come.
