Winter Storm Warning Expanded to Prince George's County

Freezing drizzle and rain may cause a slippery and dangerous commute Monday morning.

Prince George's County is under a winter storm warning through 10 a.m. Monday, with up to a quarter-inch of ice expected to accumulate overnight, according to a weather alert issued by the National Weather Service.

Freezing rain is supposed to follow freezing drizzle Sunday night and into Monday. The freezing rain is expected to change over to rain sometime after 10 a.m. Monday.

Temperatures will be in the upper 20s to low 30s overnight, and are expected to rise above freezing on Monday.

NWS says that downed tree branches and "significant" power outages are possible, with driving conditions expected to deteriorate and become dangerous due to the freezing rain. Maryland State Highway Administration officials are advising motorist to stay off the road, or to drive slowly if travel cannot be avoided.
