Historic Airports of Prince George's County Driving Tour
Prince George’s County is home to many remarkable and ground breaking airports. College Park Airport was home to the first United States Army flying school and is the oldest continually running airport in the world. In 1941, Columbia Air Center was the first airfield in Maryland managed completely by African American pilots.
College Park Aviation Museum is offering a driving tour of a few of these historic airports. The tour begins at College Park Airport and will stop at Freeway Airport, the monument of the former Columbia Air Center, Potomac Airfield, and the sight of the ERCO factory and airfield.
The tour will be between 3 and 4 hours long. Bring a sack lunch to enjoy at Potomac Airfield. The tour is $4 per person. Pre-registration is required. 301-864-6029
