Community Update

Congratulations to the City of College Park on
their Sustainable Maryland Certified award! Councilwoman Denise
Mitchell was on hand to accept the award on Friday at the MML
conference. College Park’s effort to promote economic resiliency was
evident in their Buy Local campaign, “Shop College Park”, which
features storefront and streetlight signage; web and social media
platforms; a “Buy Local and Independent Week” and other events, all with
special emphasis on promoting locally- owned and independent
businesses. Other sustainability initiatives included support for the
region’s annual Bike to Work Day; an innovative recycling program that
includes single stream recycling, electronics and yard waste; and a
comprehensive workplace wellness program. Well done to our neighbors in
