DESCRIPTION:A new exhibition featuring rare items from the University of 
 Maryland Libraries explores how women perceived and experienced the Civi
 l War.\n"Women on the Border: Maryland Perspectives of the Civil War" fe
 atures photographs\, sheet music\, rare books\, manuscripts\, and materi
 als never before displayed together\, including a rare sketchbook drawn 
 by John Jacob Omenhausser\, a Confederate prisoner whose gritty depictio
 n of prison life is offset by his colorful sketch of idealized Southern 
 belles.\nThe exhibit will run September 12th\, 2011 until July 13th\, 20
 12 and will be open Monday-Friday 10am-5pm. Additional hours during the 
 academic semester are Wednesdays 5pm-8pm and Sundays 1pm-6pm.
