NeedleChasers of Chevy Chase is a long-standing, rapidly-growing Washington, DC-area quilt guild with more than one hundred members, who range from beginners to accomplished artists, and from traditional quilters to those who push the boundaries of fabric and design with bold, contemporary work.
A hallmark of our guild is its commitment to community service. Members create quilts on an ongoing basis for such organizations as the HSC Pediatric Center and the House of Ruth’s Child Development Center. In recent years we have donated lap quilts to IONA House and made quilts that promote the fundraising and visibility efforts of the Children’s International Art Organization, the House of Ruth, and The National Foster Parents Association.
Every two years we host a quilt show that is attended by hundreds of Washington, DC, metro area quilters, sew-ers, and other residents interested in fiber arts. This year, the show’s theme is QUILTING: A CAPITAL IDEA! The show will feature a display of over 200 traditional and art quilts and an Artisan Boutique and Silent Auction that will offer fine hand-crafted items such as quilts, bags, aprons and book covers for sale.
There will be the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for this show’s queen-sized capital-themed “Opportunity" quilt, as well as quilting demonstrations for all ages.
