Zaching for Every Kid With Cancer
University of Maryland student continues to inspire through his fight against cancer.
January wasn't University of Maryland student Zach Lederer's first bought with cancer.
At age 11, Lederer began to experience headaches, caused by a tumor in his brain. The prognosis was grim, but after surgery and rehab, he recovered.
A few months after starting at the University of Maryland last fall, Lederer returned to the hospital with a new lesion on his brain. From the hospital bed, he raised his fists and flexed his arms for the camera, and the pose became a viral symbol against childhood cancer, and everyone started doing it.
"When you're Zaching ... you're doing it for every kid in the world with cancer," Lederer said in the accompanying video report by Maryland Athletics.
